What can you expect from this course?
The course will help you develop your English Reading Skills (skimming, scanning, previewing, schema activation, predicting, inferring, finding the main idea, and finding details) by providing you with training and practice in general English skills. The main goal is on improving your reading comprehension skills in everyday situations and so an integrated skills approach is taken. We will cover all skill areas as well as providing input on grammar, vocabulary development. We will also schedule an individual tutorial so that you can talk to your peer tutor about your progress and receive guidance in your self-study. Please visit Hansei GEC for the peer tutoring.
What are the aims of the course?
The course aims to do the following:
- Increase your confidence in understanding and using English in everyday situations.
- Develop your communicative use of English and improve your skills level.
- Develop your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary.
- Develop your language learning strategies and confidence in using English beyond the classroom.
- Provide you with the necessary guidance and support to achieve the above.
Who attend this Course?
Students who attend this course include those who are going on to take the 16 weeks Hansei regular English Reading course. It also includes students who wish to improve their overall general language level and study in a university environment.
